Hi-tech meets heritage as Lord Norman Poster, one of the worId's
greatest modernist architects, takes on one of the world's most
charged historical buildings - the Reichstag, German's once and
future parliament Destroyed by a fire attributed to Hitler in
1933, it was badly damaged during the Battle of Berlin in 1945.
Restored, lt housed the first Parliament of reunified Germany
in 1990. Lord Poster capped lt with a glass cupola, accessible
to the public. The camera follows his four-year battle with key
government officials, including ex-Chancellor Helmut Kohl who
gives a rare Interview tor the film. Rebuilding the Reichstag
mixes fly-on-the-wall filming of Poster and the German MPs with
rare archival footage and the first-ever reconstruction of the
infamous Reichstag fire" using 3D graphics. For the first
time since 1945, German veterans who defended the building under
the Nazis meet their former Russian enemy in the same building
they fought over a half-centuny before. |
